New choreography, Schreibstück, after a manuscript by Tomas Lehmen (http://www.thomaslehmen.de), will be performed in Dublin (Ireland) and Wienna (Austria), and Oslo during March and April.
For Dansdesign (choreographers Anne Grete Eriksen and Leif Hernes and team) Schreibstück represent an important choreographic approach; namely a way of taking a chance on chance operations.
Schreibstück by Tomas Lehmen challenges all the assets of artistic daring. Following another artists instructions and framework endangers looosing ones own style, idenity, and integrity.
Dansdesign engage in this exiting European project because of this personal challenge as well as the tempting opportunity to deepen our facinating research into composer John Cage and choreographer Merce Cunninghams world and heritage.
The meeting of three teams of dancers and choroegraphers at the same time and in the same space with their different approaches to ”understanding” the rules set by the exiting artist Tomas Lehmen demands thorough choreographic preperation and the utmost respect for the others. The ethical dimension within dancecreation is for Dansdesign embedded in meaning of our artistic and human actvity.

Schreibstück is a score for dance written by German choreographer Thomas Lehmen.
Any new production of Schreibstück must include three versions. These three versions, from Ireland, Norway and Austria, premiered in Tanzquartier Wien (Vienna) in March 2006 with further performances in Dansens Hus (Oslo) in April 2006.
For Schreibstück, one author, three choreographers and nine dancers unite in a performative dance canon. The piece wanders over the stage; the different interpretations meet and conflict with one another in the shared space.
With this work, which received its world première in 2002, the author of Schreibstück, German choreographer Thomas Lehmen, takes up interesting problems of authorship and repeatability.
